In order to serve the increasing Japan flight frequencies and one of our key customer groups, we will strengthen our base in Helsinki and are now recruiting new cabin crew members with Japanese language and cultural skills. The Helsinki group operates Finnair’s certain Japanese routes as well as certain European routes that are popular to our Japanese customers. We are planning on starting the cabin crew training courses in January/February 2020.

responsible for cabin safety and customer service on Finnair flights. 

We are looking for customer-oriented team players who are passionate about providing high-quality customer service. On flights, you will ensure Finnair’s customer promise and the vision of Unique Nordic Experience is fulfilled. As a member of Finnair’s Cabin Crew, you will also look after the safety on Finnair flights. You will follow our safety guidelines and prepare for each flight by familiarizing yourself with flight information and related working instructions. You will create and maintain a safe working environment, as well as, foster positive and inspiring working atmosphere true to Finnair’s values.

You might be the person we are looking for if you enjoy serving our customers with a positive, warm and friendly attitude. You are willing to go for an extra mile to ensure our customers arrive happy and relaxed at their destination feeling they want to fly with us again. In addition, you are flexible and adapt easily to changing situations and circumstances, as well as, have desire to learn new things and develop yourself.

What is required to become a cabin crew member at Finnair? 

Completed secondary education (upper secondary / vocational school) 

At least 2 years of experience in face-to-face customer service 

Fluency in English and Japanese is required, other language skills are considered an asset 

Excellent understanding of Japanese culture

Ability and willingness to understand and follow instructions 

Positive can-do attitude

Height minimum 160cm 

Normal color vision and distant vision using both eyes 0.7 or better (with or without glasses) 

Normal hearing 

Ability to swim minimum 50 meters 

Good general health (minimum requirement EASA Part Med Cabin Crew and Finnair regulations). In general, this means, that the applicant should have no long-term medical conditions, especially conditions requiring continuous or recurrent medication or regular follow-up. 

No visible tattoos, piercings or teeth jewelry

What kind of employment contracts do we offer?
We are primarily looking to hire for permanent full-time employment.

What is the selection process like?

Selection process will consist of several steps, including online assignments and an assessment center in Helsinki or Tokyo. Before employment, the selected candidates will participate medical check and in a training course of eight weeks, without separate compensation for the training period. Successfully passed medical check and the cabin crew training are a prerequisite for employment.

The selection round is as follows:

Application period: September 2019

Online assignments and a video interview: October 2019

Online medical survey: October 2019

Assessment days: 6.11.2019 in Finland and around weeks 46 and 47 in Tokyo, Japan. You can choose which date and location suits you the best.

Medical check: November/December 2019

Training: January/ February 2020

Finnair will support in arranging and cover the cost for relevant work permit in Finland for the selected candidates. Finnair does not provide other moving or housing related support.

The new Helsinki group will operate Finnair’s Nagoya and seasonal Japanese routes as well as certain European routes that are popular to our Japanese customers. We are planning on starting the first new courses in March 2018.
